Our Story

Seafair Animal Clinic was opened in 1983 in the Seafair Shopping Center by Drs. Brenda Thiesson and James Lawson, and quickly built a reputation as a caring practice that always strived to provide high quality and compassionate care for the pets of Richmond.  The current owners, Dr. Art Ceballos and Erin Burridge have continued this tradition since taking over the practice in 2008.  In 2018, Dr. Liza Lackner joined the ownership group after many years as a valued associate with the practice.

As the practice grew, we quickly realized that we weren’t able to see all of our patients in as timely a manner as we liked.  It was this desire to better serve our clients that served as the impetus to expand.  After several years of searching for the perfect location, we opened Ironwood Animal Hospital in the summer of 2016 to provide much needed service to the entire community, but in particular to South East Richmond and the Delta/Ladner area.

The two clinics are each fully functioning Veterinary Hospitals but are completely integrated to allow us to provide high quality, seamless care.  Between the two hospitals we are able to serve our patients 7 days a week, and between 8 AM and 8 PM on Monday through Friday and 9am-4pm Saturday and Sunday.

We have watched our patients grow up and mature, and think of them as part of our family.  Many of our clients are on their third or fourth generation of pets, and these long term relationships are what we always strive to achieve, and truly value. Similarly, many of our clients have gotten to know our doctors and staff very well over the years, and we consider them not just clients, but friends.

For our existing clients, we hope to continue to serve you and your furry family members for years to come, and if you’re new to us, please stop in to meet us.  We’re always happy to welcome new members into our family.

Angel Fund

Occasionally, some pets are brought to us needing care that their families simply don’t have the means to provide. Our Angel Fund has been established to provide this type of support when needed. We will be hosting events throughout the course of the year to help provide the funds for these patients, but we would be happy to accept support from the public. Please don’t hesitate to ask how you can help.
